How to install Loviam on your phone: the complete guide

A real app, without going through a store

Loviam is a progressive web app (PWA). In practice: you install it straight from your browser, in seconds, with no App Store or Play Store involved. Once installed, it behaves like any other app: an icon on your home screen, full-screen launch, push notifications for your matches and messages. The difference, invisible to you, is technical: instead of a downloaded, frozen file, Loviam is a website your browser "pins" and caches so it opens instantly, just like a native app.

The benefits are real:

  • 30-second installation — no 200 MB download, no store account, no credit card to register.
  • Always up to date — no updates to approve: you always run the latest version, and you'll never see an "Update" prompt in a store.
  • Lightweight — a few MB on your phone, where classic dating apps occupy hundreds and eat into your storage.
  • Identical on every device — your account follows you from phone to tablet to computer, with nothing to reinstall or reconfigure.
  • Discreet — the icon looks like any other app; no one glancing at your home screen can tell it's a dating app.

Here's how, depending on your device. It takes under a minute in every case.

On Android (Chrome)

  1. Open www.loviam.com in Chrome and log in.
  2. An "Install app" banner appears at the bottom of the screen: tap Install. Done.
  3. No banner? Tap the menu (top right) → "Add to Home screen" or "Install app" → confirm.

The Loviam icon appears on your home screen, like any app. On first launch, the app opens full-screen, with no address bar. On Android, the integration goes further: Loviam also shows up in your full list of apps (the app drawer) and in the system settings, exactly like an app installed from the Play Store — you can even manage its notifications and storage from Settings → Apps.

On Samsung Internet, same principle: menu → "Add page to" → "Home screen". If you use another browser (Firefox, Brave), the option exists too, though its wording may vary slightly; look for "Add to Home screen" in the menu.

On iPhone and iPad (Safari)

  1. Open www.loviam.com in Safari (this matters: use Safari, not Chrome and not the built-in browser of Instagram or WhatsApp).
  2. Tap the Share button (the square with an upward arrow, center of the bottom bar).
  3. Scroll down the list and tap "Add to Home Screen".
  4. Confirm the name "Loviam" → Add.

The icon appears on your home screen. Since iOS 16.4, push notifications also work on iPhone for apps installed this way — remember to enable them (see below). One Apple quirk: on iPhone, installing a PWA must go through Safari, even if your usual browser is Chrome. That's an iOS constraint, not a Loviam one; once the app is on your home screen, it then opens on its own, independently of whichever browser you use day to day.

On desktop (Chrome, Edge)

Loviam also works great at your desk: open www.loviam.com, then click the install icon (a small screen with an arrow) on the right of the address bar, or menu ⋮ → "Install Loviam". The app then opens in its own window, no tabs around it. Handy for chatting quietly from a laptop without mixing your conversations in with your work tabs. Your matches and messages are of course synced: a conversation started on your phone picks up on your computer right where you left off.

Enable notifications (the real game-changer)

A match, a message: better to know right away. After installing:

  1. Open Loviam from its new icon.
  2. When the app offers to enable notifications, accept.
  3. Your browser or system asks for confirmation: Allow.

You'll then receive notifications for new matches and new messages, even when the app is closed — exactly like a native app. And if you change your mind, everything can be turned off in your phone's notification settings.

One detail that matters on iPhone

On iOS, the notification prompt appears only after you launch Loviam from its home-screen icon — never from the Safari tab. If you don't see the prompt, it's almost always because you're still in the browser rather than in the installed app. Close Safari, open Loviam via its icon, and the prompt will appear. Also check that a "Do Not Disturb" or Focus mode isn't quietly hiding your alerts.

Troubleshooting

"I don't see the install option"

On iPhone, make sure you're in Safari (links opened from Instagram, WhatsApp or Messenger open in an embedded mini-browser that doesn't offer installation — tap "Open in Safari" first). On Android, make sure you're using an up-to-date Chrome or Samsung Internet. Another common cause: if Loviam is already installed, the browser won't offer installation again — first check whether the icon isn't already on another home screen.

"The app shows a blank page"

Close the app completely and reopen it. If the problem persists, open www.loviam.com in your browser to check your connection, then relaunch from the icon. A blank page almost always comes from a network drop during loading, not an app bug.

"Notifications aren't arriving"

Check three things, in order: that you tapped "Allow" when prompted; that Loviam's notifications are enabled in your phone's system settings; and, on iPhone, that the app was actually installed to the home screen (iOS push notifications don't work from a plain Safari tab). If everything looks right, uninstall and reinstall: the permission prompt will reappear fresh.

"I want to uninstall it"

Like any app: long-press the icon → remove. Your account and conversations are of course kept server-side; you'll find them again when you log back in. Uninstalling the PWA does not delete your profile — for that, you'll need to go through your account settings.

PWA, native, web app: what's the difference?

You'll sometimes hear that a PWA is "not a real app". In practice, that line has blurred. A modern PWA does everything a dating user expects: a dedicated icon, full screen, notifications, and it even works offline for screens already loaded. The real distinction lies elsewhere:

  • A native app (downloaded from a store) is installed software, specific to iOS or Android, that must be reviewed and updated manually.
  • A PWA like Loviam is the website itself, pinned to your home screen and cached for instant opening — same gestures, fewer constraints.

For a chat-and-swipe app, a PWA ticks every useful box without the downsides (size, updates, store accounts). That's exactly why we chose it.

Why not a "classic" store app?

A deliberate choice. The PWA lets us ship improvements continuously (no store review delays), avoid the 30% commissions that push other apps toward forced subscriptions, and guarantee the same experience for everyone. This technical choice fits Loviam's overall philosophy: a 100% free service, funded by rewarded video rather than by your credit card.
